BLESSED SACRAMENT PARISH-AKIM NTRONANG

BRIEF HISTORY OF THE CHURCH:
The church was brought from Saltpond to Ntronang by Kwadwo Amissah, Kwabena Gyan, Kwaku Nkrumah Turkson and Kwateng “the cripple” in 1911.

The parish celebrated her 50th (Golden jubilee) anniversary of its blessing by late Bishop J.O. Bowers in December, 2007. The centenary anniversary was celebrated in 2011.

LOCATION:
Ntronang belongs to Akim Kotoku traditional Area. The town is located at the southern part of the New Abirem District. It shares boundaries in the North, South, and East with Heakwae, Nkwateng and Abodom respectively.

OUTSTATIONS:
There are six out stations; Hweakwae, Nkwateng, Abodom, Prasokuma, Akrofonso, Amenam.

TIME FOR SUNDAY MASS:
Hweakwae-10:00am, Nkwateng, Abodom -10:30am, Prasokuma-10:30am, Akrofonso-11:00am, Amenam-11:30am. Time for mass in the main station (Ntronang) 7:45am.

WEEKDAY SCHEDULE:
Mass is celebrated everyday in the main station: Morning masses are on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Mass is celebrated in the evening on Wednesday and Friday at 7:30pm. Holy Rosary prayer is recited before Mass on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday.

The parish has schools in two stations, these are; Ntronang K.G. Primary A and B, J.H.S, Hweakwae K.G and Primary

The church has a clinic namely, St. Michael’s Clinic and Maternity.

SITUATION PROFILE  

Population:
The population of the town is about 15000 according to the 2012 census.

Occupation:
The people are mainly farmers and they cultivate cocoa, plantain, cassava, maize, cocoyam, palm plantation, etc. few people are into trading and some also deal in illegal mining. Very few are working in the Gold mining Company, the Newmont. There are few carpenters and Masons around. Most of the youth are unemployed.

Utility Service:
There are electricity and pipe borne water.
